Great Dharma Chan Monastery’s Opening and Purification Ceremony on October 27, 2024 marked a milestone for Chan Buddhism in Boulder County. Led by Venerable Master Jianying and attended by 450 guests, the event established the mind ground method and emphasized the monastery’s role as a sanctuary for meditation and spiritual growth.
The architecture of Chung Tai Chan Monastery harmoniously integrates elements of art, culture and technology with the Dharma, and serves as a demonstration of the “Five Directions of Spreading Buddhism.” It was awarded the “Taiwan Architecture Award” in 2002, and the “International Award for Lighting Design” in 2003, writing a new page in 21st century Buddhist architecture.
During a visit to the Buddha, the Heavenly King and the King of Asuras debated the value of diligence versus tolerance. The Buddha taught that while diligence is important, practicing tolerance even after success is truly extraordinary. This reflects the essence of maintaining inner peace and stability regardless of external conditions.
